Monsoon Session Of Parliament Scheduled From July 21 To August 21, Govt To Convene All Party Meeting On July 19

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that President Droupadi Murmu has approved the proposed schedule for the session.

Parliament Monsoon Session: The Monsoon Session of the Parliament, the Fifth Session of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha, is set to begin on July 21, and is likely to conclude on August 21, according to a press release from the Lok Sabha Secretariat. However, the dates remain subject to change depending on the exigencies of government business.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that President Droupadi Murmu has approved the proposed schedule for the session. In a post on X, Rijiju shared that Parliament will not sit on August 13 and 14 in observance of Independence Day celebrations.

Rijiju wrote on X, “The Hon’ble President of India has approved the proposal of the Government to convene the Monsoon Session of Parliament from 21st July to 21st August, 2025. In view of the Independence Day celebrations, there will be no sittings on the 13th and 14th of August.”

Ahead of the monsoon session, the central government will convene an all-party meeting on July 19, Rijiju stated on Thursday. This comes amid the demand by opposition leaders to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss various issues, focussing on the developments following the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Minister added, “The central government called an all-party meeting on July 19 regarding the monsoon session of Parliament. The monsoon session of Parliament is starting from July 21 and will run till August 21.”

Notably, this session will be the first parliamentary sitting following Operation Sindoor, which was a response to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26.

According to the reports, the government plans to introduce several significant legislative proposals in this extended session. One of the major proposals expected during this monsoon session is a bill to open the atomic energy sector to private companies.

The Budget Session of Parliament this year included the passing of important legislation like the Waqf Amendment Bill and the Finance Bill 2025. A total of 26 sittings took place during the entire Budget Session.

Appropriation Bills relating to Second and Final Batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2024-25; Excess Demands for Grants for the year 2021-22 and Supplementary Demands for Grants of Manipur for the year 2024-25 and Demands for Grant on Account for the year 2025-26 in respect of the State of Manipur were also passed in the Lok Sabha.
