Swati Maliwal, accompanied by DCW member Vandana Singh, travelled to Churachandpur, Moirang, and Imphal districts in Manipur. During her visit, she interacted with survivors of the violence and visited various relief camps. The mother of one of the victims shared the heartbreaking tale of her father and brother losing their lives while trying to save her during the gang rape incident.

The husband of the woman who was paraded naked and molested had bravely fought in the Kargil war for the country and revealed that the victim was deeply traumatized. The families expressed their frustration at the lack of counselling, legal aid, and compensation from the government, as well as the absence of any action taken against the responsible police officers. Swati assured the victims’ families that they were not alone and that the entire country stood with them during their time of need.

Swati Maliwal also visited relief camps in Manipur, where she met other women affected by the violence. She faced difficulties while trying to enter Manipur without government assistance, but her determination led her to reach out to the victims at any cost. The viral video of the incident deeply moved her, strengthening her resolve to offer support and comfort to the victims.
