The state assembly received the budget for the financial year 2025-26 from the Jharkhand government on Monday, March 3. During the budget presentation, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore informed the assembly members that the total budget for the financial year 2025-26 amounted to Rs 1.45 lakh crore. The discussion regarding the Maiya Samman Yojana gained momentum in Jharkhand following the budget announcement. The government is expected to transfer Rs 7,500 to female residents of Jharkhand under this scheme. The disbursement of funds under the scheme has been a longstanding concern among the populace. Members of the Assembly raised questions to the Finance Minister regarding this issue.
As per the budgetary plan for Jharkhand in 2025-26, the government has allocated Rs 13,363 crore for the Maiya Samman Yojana. Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore assured that funds would be distributed to eligible female beneficiaries under the scheme. Women who qualify will receive Rs 7,500 as a three-month payment installment before Holi on March 14.
Women across the state had been waiting for the scheme’s funds for an extended period before the Finance Minister addressed various concerns in the Assembly. According to the Minister, sufficient funds have been allocated in the state budget to support public welfare programs. He explained during the Assembly session that technical difficulties had caused delays in financial disbursements under the Maiya Samman Yojana. When the government increased the scheme amount from Rs 1,000, it set a new payment threshold at Rs 2,500.
