New Delhi: LinkedIn announced on Monday that it would be ending up with more positions from different departments. 716 roles in its sales, operations, and support divisions will be removed as part of broader reforms that would also entail the discontinuation of its local employment app in China.

More than 270,000 tech jobs have been terminated globally in the previous six months, according to Layoffs. FYI, which has been tracking the consequences.

In a letter written to staff CEO Ryan Roslansky wrote, “With the market and customer demand fluctuating more, and to serve emerging and growth markets more effectively, we are expanding the use of vendors.”

He explained that by removing layers in the sales, operations, and support teams, the company’s procedures will be streamlined. This would allow for faster decision-making.

The changes, according to Roslansky’s letter, will result in the creation of 250 new employees. According to a LinkedIn official, employees who were affected by the cut would be eligible to apply for such positions.
