KCR renames party as ‘Bharat Rashtra Samithi’, eyes 2024 elections

New Delhi: Taking a view of 2024 general elections, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday renamed his party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to ‘Bharat Rashtra Samithi’ (BRS).

He made this decision during a meeting of TRS party leaders at Telangana Bhavan. With the announcement, TRS will now be known as BRS.

After the announcement of the new national party, Telangana Home Minister Mahmood Ali said that the party’s flag will have the same symbol of the car, but it will have the outline of the map of India.

Meanwhile, Christian leaders pledged their support to the ruling TRS and wished Chief Minister KC Rao on his entry into the national scene. Several Christian leaders in the congregation at Nizamabad CSI Church on Tuesday passed a resolution expressing their support.

AC Solomon Raj, Bishop of the Protestant Church of South India Society, said, “God’s blessings are with KCR. We are all with him. The country needs leaders like him right now. India needs KCR’s leadership to remain secular.”

Tamil Nadu Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol Thirumavalavan also attended the meeting held at Telangana Bhavan. More than 283 MLAs, MPs and District Presidents attended the meeting. Police had imposed traffic restrictions in the areas around Telangana Bhavan.
