Expected “better judgement”: BC Nagesh

Karnataka school education and literacy minister B C Nagesh said he expected a “better judgement” keeping global outrage against wearing Hijab in mind.

“We welcome Supreme Court verdict. We had expected a better judgement as women worldwide are demanding to not wear hijab/burqa. Karnataka HC order remains applicable in interim time; ban on wearing of hijab in educational institutions of the state remains,” he said.

On being asked about those organisations who are supporting wearing hijab in educational institutions, he said: “They will always want to split this society. They are using hijab to split the society.”

Meanwhile, until the final decision or the next hearing where the bench rules otherwise, the verdict of the Karnataka High Court will remain applicable.
