Meanwhile, the Dean of the School of International Studies and Grievances Committee has been asked to inquire and submit a report to the VC at the earliest.

“JNU stands for inclusion and equality. The VC reiterates zero tolerance for any violence on campus,” as per the notice issued by the Registrar.

This comes in response to an incident on Thursday when the walls of JNU campus and staff room were in the School of International Studies (SIS) were found defaced with anti-Brahmin slogans.

The miscreants have written “Brahmin-Baniya leave the campus” with red ink in Hindi as well as in English, sparking a controversy in the university.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (AVBP) wing statement

The Times of India quited Rohit Kumar, president of JNU’s AVBP which is a student union of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accused the varsity of lack of action. He alleged that such incidents are frequent since 2014 in the varsity but the administration has taken no action.

“If the JNU administration does not stop such incidents, we will be forced to believe that this is being done in connivance with the Left.”

The student union has demanded an inquiry in the matter.

Left seperates itself from controversy

As accused by a chunk of students that the Left leaning unions are responsible behind the act, an official on anonymity to Times of India said they can raise the issue politically instead of vandalising walls of institution.

“This is simply ironical and feels completely concocted and we absolutely condemn it,” said the official.
