New Delhi: Adding to a series of resignations by Jammu and Kashmir Congress leaders in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad, today 20 more leaders of District Congress Committee-Jammu North resigned.

Veteran Congress leader from J&K, Azad, resigned from all party posts last month from the Congress.

The 73-year-old in a letter to Sonia Gandhi said that former party president Rahul Gandhi “demolished” the consultative mechanism in the party ever since he took over and that the party has reached a point of “no return”.

“All senior and experienced leaders were sidelined and a new coterie of inexperienced sycophants started running the affairs of the Party,” Azad had said.

According to news agency ANI, the 20 leaders who resigned on Friday were members of the District Congress Committee, Jammu North region.

Today’s resignation has come after 36 Congress leaders, including leaders of the National Students’ Union of India, resigned in support of Azad on Thursday. 

Before that, on August 30, another 64 senior Congress leaders had resigned from the party following Azad’s exit.
