New Delhi: The Jammu Police on Thursday recovered a perfume IED for the first time, informed an official, sharing that the explosive has been sent to the special team for further investigation.

Sharing insight on the IED, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said the explosive would blast if anyone tries to open it or press it. It is worth noting that no such explosives were ever recovered before. It is the first of its kind in possession of the Jammu Police.

The police have arrested an accused named Arif who allegedly was in contact with a few handlers from Pakistan for 3 years. The police official informed that the accused received a total of three IEDs by the end of December as a part of the heinous plan.

Out of which, two IEDs were exploded on January 21 in Narwal area of Jammu district, back-to-back. In an aftermath of the blasts, as many as 9 were died while many were injured critically.

The DGP further revealed that, “Arif is working in the influence of Qasim, a Lashkar-E-Taiba terrorist operating from Pakistan. He is responsible for recent terror activities in the area.”

He further condemned the neighbouring country who has always been criticised for backing up and nurturing terrorists and said, “Pakistan is infamous for propagating terrorism from its land and for killing hundreds of innocent people across the world.”

“Jammu and Kashmir is on target for some time. They (Pakistan) want to create a communal divide among the people in Jammu and Kashmir,” added DGP Dilbag Singh.
