Jammu and Kashmir: A fierce gunfight broke out on Friday between security forces and terrorists in the forested area of Kulnar Bazipora, located in the Bandipora district of North Kashmir. The encounter began during a cordon and search operation initiated by security personnel following credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
According to top police officials, an LeT terrorist associate was killed and two cops were injured in the fight. This operation follows a major crackdown on terrorist activities in the Kashmir Valley, prompted by a recent attack on tourists in Baisaran, Pahalgam. Over the past three days, security forces have arrested and detained more than 200 terrorist associates, overground workers (OGWs), and suspects.
Meanwhile ceasefire violations were reported in the Poonch and Rajouri areas of Jammu along the Line of Control (LoC) by the Pakistan Army. The Indian Army effectively responded to the fire, with no casualties or damage reported so far, according to Army officials.
Additionally, the Army Chief is visiting Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam today, where terrorists brutally killed 26 tourists on Tuesday. Later on the Army Chief will conduct a major security review meeting and oversee the preparedness of the army along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. He is also expected to visit some forward areas along the LoC in Kashmir.
