International Yoga Day 2025 LIVE: International Yoga Day, celebrated every year on June 21, is being commemorated for the 11th consecutive year. This year’s theme is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the celebrations on the 11th International Day of Yoga from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Nearly 3 lakh people are participating in the mega event to be held at a 26-Km stretch from Ramakrishna Beach.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also attending the massive demonstration at Adalaj Vav stepwell near Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Earlier on Friday, the Government of Andhra Pradesh said that over 2 crore people will take part in the Yoga events today, held across the state. An attempt will be made to set Guinness World Record and distribute over 50 lakh yoga certificates.

It was in the year 2014 in September that the India's prime minister Narendra Modi, in his UN address, suggested an annual Day of Yoga on 21 June. The day was chosen becasue of it being the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world. Following the initial proposal, the UN adopted the draft resolution, entitled "Day of Yoga", in 2014!

Indian Navy personnel aboard Indian Naval Ships anchored off the coast of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, are enthusiastically participating in the #internationaldayofyoga2025 celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the nationwide Yoga event from Visakhapatnam.
Over 11,000 personnel and family members from the Eastern Naval Command are taking part in the grand morning session, joining the PM in performing Yoga. Spread across approximately 10 enclosures along the 30-kilometre-long RK Beach stretch, these naval participants form a key part of this historic event. Simultaneously, Yoga is also being practised at sea on board various Indian Naval Ships stationed off the coast.

On International Yoga Day, PM Modi says, "For the expansion of Yoga in the world, India is empowering the science of Yoga through modern research...We are also encouraging evidence-based therapy in the field of Yoga. Delhi AIIMS has done a good job in this regard.
