Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. authorities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have ordered the closure of over 1,000 madrasas. They are concerned about possible military action from India.
“We have announced a 10-day break for all madrassas in Kashmir,” said Hafiz Nazeer Ahmed, the head of the local religious affairs department, to the AFP news agency.
A source from the department stated that the break was “due to tensions at the border and the potential for conflict.”
Meanwhile during the night of 01-02 May 2025, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms firing from posts across the Line of Control opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor areas of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Indian Army troops responded in a calibrated and proportionate manner.
