IMD Weather Update: The weather across several states in the country is set to undergo significant changes due to two troughs and an upper cyclonic circulation. These meteorological conditions will likely bring rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intense downpour over Odisha on the 15th and 16th of April. The other affected regions likely to receive rain from 16th to 18th April are Assam and Meghalaya.
Light Rain To Lash Northeast And East India
Meanwhile, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will get relief from heat due to rain on 17th April. The Met Department has also forecasted scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) over Northeast and East India during the next 5 days. The plains of Central India and Maharashtra will witness similar conditions on 15th April.

Hailstorm And Thundersquall Warning
An Isolated Hailstorm is likely over Jharkhand tomorrow, while thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph) is expected to prevail at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand on 15th April.
IMD Warns Against Western Disturbance
IMD has warned against an intense Western Disturbance likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region from 16th to 20th, with peak intensity on 18th and 19th April. Under its influence, isolated Hailstorm is likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh on the 18th and over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand on the 18th & 19th April.
Rain is also expected to lash the adjoining plains of northwest India from the 18th to the 20th of April 2025. Meanwhile, Residents of Tamil Nadu Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Interior Karnataka must brace for more rain during this week.
