What Is A Heatwave

A heatwave—commonly referred to as a period of abnormally high temperatures—is increasingly becoming a global concern as extreme weather events grow in frequency and intensity. Meteorologists typically define a heatwave as at least five consecutive days of unusually hot weather and measure it against the usual climate of a specific region and the average seasonal temperatures. More intense periods of extreme heat may pose growing threats to public health, agriculture, and infrastructure.
