‘If Found…’, Vulture Recovered In Jharkhand With Warning Note; ‘Dhaka’ And Secret Code Inscribed On Bird

Police suspect it was part of a research effort by a UK-based organization, but they are still investigating.

Hazaribag: An injured vulture of an endangered species was discovered in a dam in  Hazaribag district, Jharkhand with a metallic ring on one of its legs inscribed with ‘Dhaka,’ according to the police. The white-backed vulture, which is listed under Schedule 1 of endangered species, was found by a group of fishermen in Konar Dam on Monday, said Bishnugarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer B N Prasad.

Investigation Going On In Jharkhand

The forest officials took the vulture for treatment and plan to keep it under observation for some time. The police believe that John Malot, a Dhaka-based bird researcher working with the UK-based Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, might have released the vulture with a solar radio collar to track its movements from Dhaka to Jharkhand.
