J&K Shocker: IAF Officer Accuses Wing Commander Of Rape, Alleges Cover-Up in Probe

A woman flying officer of the Indian Air Force has accused a Wing Commander of rape and filed a police complaint against him.

New Delhi: A woman flying officer of the Indian Air Force has accused a Wing Commander of rape and filed a police complaint against him. The FIR has been registered with Budgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir. Both officers are posted in Srinagar.

Confirming that they knew about the case, the IAF said they are cooperating with the local authorities. The Budgam police approached them in Srinagar, to which the IAF is fully assisting the local authorities, as reported by NDTV.

In her complaint, she mentioned harassment, sexual assault, and mental torture for the last two years.

Flying Officer Accuses Senior Of Forcing Rape And Oral Sex During New Year’s Party

She said, during the New Year party on December 31, 2023, her senior came up to her and asked whether she had got a gift. She said no, after which Wing Commander Saharan informed her that the gifts were in his room and took her there. When she asked him where his family was, he said they were elsewhere.

The flying officer accused her senior of forcing her into oral sex and molesting her. She complained, “I repeatedly asked him to stop and tried to resist in every way. I eventually pushed him and ran away. He told me we would meet again on Friday when his family leaves.”

Flying Officer ‘It took some time for the incident to sink in. She was frightened, at a loss, and reporting also was discouraged by past incidents. She said that her senior came to her office, acting as if nothing had happened and without any trace of repentance. After discussing the matter with two other women officers, she was advised to file a complaint. She also described the mental agony and said, “As an unmarried woman in the forces, I was treated in a heinous way.”

A Colonel was subsequently sent to inquire into her complaint. She alleged that the Wing Commander was made to sit with her twice in January to record statements, but she had also objected to his presence. She further accused them of subsequently closing the investigation to cover up the administrative lapses.
