When India’s space organisation ISRO was working on the very first moon mission- Chandrayan 1, APJ Abdul Kalam paid a visit to the ISRO office.

According to a report in The India Express, the former president of India back then asked the scientists about the evidence, which would prove that Chandrayaan-1 had been to the Moon.

Upon his query, the scientists told him that it would have the Moon’s surface pictures, but the former president said that it would not be enough, the report added.

Furthermore, APJ Abdul Kalam told the scientists working on the Chandrayan-1 that it should carry an instrument that can be dropped on the moon’s surface.

After this, the scientists made some design changes to the Chandrayaan-1.

When the reporters asked APJ Abdul Kalam about the first pictures of Earth taken by terrain mapping camera on board Chandrayaan-1, he said that he was really happy after seeing the images and “every Indian should be proud of it.”

India’s third lunar mission was launched on July 14 by the LMV3 rocket from Andhra Pradesh’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre. With over 1,000 years, engineers and scientists, Chandrayaan-3 has been in the making for four years, ISRO Chairman S Somanath revealed.
