A couple allegedly approached Hapur police following a fight over Instagram followers, police said on Wednesday, adding that they were counselled by a family dispute clinic. Police said the couple, Jitendra and Nisha, reside with their family members in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh.
Fed up with routine fights, Jitendra approached the police to file a complaint against his wife. “A case was reported at Mahila Thana of the city where a man, Jitendra, filed a complaint against his wife that most of the time she makes reels, which affect household work,” said an official.
When police counselled the couple, it was revealed that they had been fighting for the past few days over Instagram Reels. “Investigation revealed that Jitendra was upset with his wife over Instagram Reels, while his wife was upset over decreasing followers,” said police, adding that during the counselling Nisha revealed that due to household work, she wasn’t able to spare time to make reels. “Due to a shortage of reels, her followers were decreasing, which triggered a fight between them,” added police.
The woman reportedly lost two followers, following which she got angry and a dispute took place between them. Police said they counselled the couple and solved the issue between them.
