The Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology has developed the Aadhaar Good Governance portal for streamlining Aadhaar authentication request approvals through a simplified structure. The initiative strives to deliver more friendly operations for Aadhaar together with enhanced access to services for better convenience in daily life. The online portal at http://swik.meity.gov.in came into service after the notification of Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Amendment Rules, 2025, under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits, and Services) Act, 2016 appeared in late January 2025.
Through this amendment the political system aims to develop better transparency and inclusiveness when making decisions. Aadhaar stands as the digital identification system which people across the country consider the most reliable in existence. The Aadhaar system has provided authentication services to more than one billion Indians who achieved greater than 100 billion successful verifications throughout the last decade. Aadhaar authentication expansion as specified in the amendment will simplify lifetimes through more convenient access to multiple services.
According to the press release, “The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) today launched Aadhaar Good Governance portal to streamline approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests. This is in sync with an effort to make Aadhaar more people-friendly, enable ease of living, and enable better access to services for people.”
The release also mentioned that, “The portal shall work as a resource rich guide, and offer detailed SOP for authentication seeking entities on how to apply and how to onboard for Aadhaar authentication. Face Authentication may also be integrated in the customer facing apps of private entities, which will enable anytime anywhere, authentication.”
