There are various expressways and highways in the country enhance connectivity in the region. One such expressway is the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
Passengers who travel between Bangalore and Mysore now need only 75 minutes. Previous journeys from Bangalore to Mysore lasted approximately three hours.
The new infrastructure along with better connectivity systems has led to this time reduction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the essential Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway through a public ceremony in the Mandya district of Karnataka in 2023.
The Prime Minister pledged this 119-kilometer road system to the nation as a present to all people in Karnataka.
The Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway consisted of two building stages which covered 58 kilometers between Bengaluru and Nidaghatta alongside 61 kilometers between Nidaghatta and Mysuru.
Bharatmala Pariyojana Initiative – Constructed under the Government of India’s flagship Bharatmala Pariyojana (BMP) program.
People now reach Mysuru from Bengaluru in less than 75 minutes instead of spending three hours during previous travel.
Fully Access-Controlled – Designed as a fully access-controlled expressway for smoother and safer travel. Infrastructure Features –Includes 11 overpasses, 64 underpasses, and 42 small bridges for efficient connectivity. Bypasses for Decongestion – Features five bypasses to ease traffic congestion in key areas.
Multi-Lane Configuration – Consists of six main lanes with additional two-lane service roads on both sides. The development incorporates modern road infrastructure to create additional safety measures during travel.
