Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday shared an inspiring success story about a boatman who made a staggering Rs 30 crore during Maha Kumbh. During his address to the state assembly, CM Yogi said that his family, who owned 130 boats, generated a whopping profit of Rs 23 lakh per boat during the grand Kumbh Mela. He further added that each of his boats earned Rs 50,000 to 52,000 per day throughout the 45-days event.
The Chief Minister discussed this during a Budget discussion held in the state assembly on Wednesday. Meanwhile, he also lauded the Maha Kumbh’s law and management and highlighted the economic impact created by the event. The Chief Minister used Kumbh’s example to emphasize the state’s aim to achieve a $1 trillion economy. The remarks were made after the Samajwadi Party alleged that the boatmen of Prayagraj were ‘exploited’ in the house.
Meanwhile, he also blasted the opposition parties for questioning the largest religious gathering. CM Yogi further emphasized the tremendous economic boost made during Kumbh Mela, noting that an investment of Rs 7,500 crore yielded a record-breaking amount of Rs 3 lakh crore in business.
The Chief Minister broke down the revenue generated from different sources:
Rs 40,000 crore (hotel industry)
Rs 33,000 crore (food and daily essentials)
Rs 1.5 lakh crore (transportation)
Rs 20,000 crore (religious offerings)
Rs 660 crore (donations)
