An 18-year-old male died from a stab wound sustained during a brawl on Saturday that was ignited by a quarrel over playing music at the event, according to police who spoke on Sunday.
Bheem Sen, a resident of the village of Badhola, was injured in the attack that occurred in the village. His friend transported him to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to a police officer.
A police officer said Sen had a minor altercation with a group of boys on Friday about playing music at the event. The next day, in what is believed to be revenge, the group attacked him with a knife.
“He sustained two stab wounds and despite medical efforts, could not be saved. An FIR has been registered at Mahendra Park Police Station,” the officer said.
He said a crime team and forensic team attended the scene and gathered evidence. The body was sent for post-mortem, he said. After the investigation, four juveniles still needed to recover the knife, the officer said.
“Efforts are underway to trace and seize the knife used in the crime. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the sequence of events and determine if more individuals were involved,” he said.
