Dehradun: The Dehradun Police lathi charged on Uttarakhand Public service commission   (UKPSC)  aspirants who were protesting against alleged malfunctioning in the state’s recruitment exams near Ghantaghar Chowk in the city.

On Thursday, a huge crowd of aspirants gathered at Gandhi Park to protest against alleged unfair activities in several recruitment exams. Later, as students started moving towards Ghantaghar Chowk, local authority deployed a police force to handle the crowd. In no time, the police started lathi-charge, after which there was fierce stone-pelting between the two.

CM appeals for peace

While appealing to the students, Chief Minister Puskar Singh Dhami asked them to maintain peace. CM Dhami said “Our government is fully alert to protect the interests of the youths of the state. We have never suppressed nor hidden any recruitment scam.” He further said “Our government has already decided to bring a strict law to prevent cheating in recruitment examinations. We are working on the country’s most stringent anti-copying.”  Our government is continuously  taking decisions in the interest of the youths. I assure all of you that all the future’s recruitment will be done fairly, CM said
