Mehwish, who had been in India for the past two months, is married to Shoib, and the couple, residing in Karachi, already has two daughters. The journey to the Attari Border, accompanied by Mehwish’s brother Jibran Khan, was meant to be a return to their home country.

Jibran Khan explained that the family had initially planned for the delivery to occur in Pakistan to simplify the process of obtaining the baby’s nationality certificate. However, visa complications delayed their plans until close to the due date.
