The IMD reports that Palam had poor visibility in the early hours of Saturday, although it became better once the sun came up.

The IMD had earlier on Friday predicted snowfall in Himachal Pradesh’s higher elevations over the coming few days. The agency also anticipated some light snowfall in the state’s Kinnaur, Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Shimla, and Kullu districts.

The lower Himachal districts of Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, and Mandi also received a cold wave alert.

“Over the past 24 hours, new snowfall has been recorded in Himachal Pradesh’s highest elevations. Hansa in Lahaul-Spiti reported 9 cm of new snowfall, Kothi in Kullu district received 15 cm, higher reaches of Shimla district recorded 5 cm of new snowfall “HP Sandeep Kumar Sharma, a senior IMD scientist, said ANI on Friday.

An earlier tweet from a weather specialist predicted that North India would experience an icy chill between January 14 and January 19, with the climax likely occurring between January 16 and January 18.
