Have you ever thought of updating your kids Aadhaar card? If not start thinking of it now and act wisely. Aadhaar cards of children aged 5 and 15 years, should be updated at the latest, as it is mandatory to ensure accurate biometric data. Biometric data is crucial for the future educational enrollments and competitive examinations. Additionally, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) mandates biometric updates at these ages to maintain the validity of the Aadhaar card.
Why Updates Are Necessary For Children Aged 5
Aadhaar is issued to children below the age of 5 without biometric data, based solely on their parents’ details. When a child turns 5, it is essential to update their Aadhaar by adding fingerprints, iris scans, and a photograph. This is known as Baal Aadhaar. This process is called mandatory biometric update (MBU).
Updates Necessary At 15 Years
As they grow, with their body, their biometric data also changes, necessitating another update at the age of 15 to ensure the information remains accurate and up to date. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has stated that updating children’s biometric details is extremely important.
UIDAI has also added that, If this update is not done, it may lead to difficulties in registering for education or competitive exams in their future. Therefore, make sure to update Aadhaar at the ages of 5 and 15 on time to avoid any issues.
