Central Delhi Faces Traffic Congestion Amid Farmers’ ‘Mahapanchayat’

According to the advisory, traffic will be controlled from 6 am to 4 pm on various roads including Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, Barakhamba Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Jai Singh Road, Swami Vivekananda Marg among others

Traffic jams occurred in central Delhi and Sarai Kale Khan on Thursday due to a farmers’ ‘mahapanchayat’ held at Ramlila Ground to protest against the government’s farming sector policies.

Traffic moved slowly, causing congestion at ITO, Delhi Gate, Daryaganj, and on National Highway-24 near Sarai Kale Khan, among other locations.

Significant traffic congestion was observed at Sarai Kale Khan. According to a senior police officer, commuters may experience some difficulties, but traffic is still flowing. “We have coordinated with the traffic police regarding diversion plans,” stated the officer.

The Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory, notifying commuters about traffic regulations and route diversions. According to the advisory, traffic will be controlled from 6 am to 4 pm on various roads including Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, Barakhamba Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Jai Singh Road, Swami Vivekananda Marg, Sansad Marg, Netaji Subhas Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Minto Road, Ashoka Road, the Maharaja Ranjeet Singh flyover, Connaught Circus, Bhavbhuti Marg, DDU Marg, and Chaman Lal Marg.

Traffic diversions may be implemented starting from 6 am at Delhi Gate, Mir Dard Chowk, Ajmeri Gate Chowk, Guru Nanak Chowk, Kamla Market road, Paharganj Chowk, roundabout Jhandewalan, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh flyover from Barakhamba Road to Guru Nanak Chowk, Janpath Road, Tolstoy Marg crossing, KG Marg crossing, and roundabout GPO, as stated in the advisory.

The traffic police have urged commuters to avoid or bypass the aforementioned roads, if feasible, and utilize public transport to the fullest extent, particularly metro services.
