Reported By Narender Nandan
Jalandhar is facing a growing problem with stray dogs. Almost every day, people are being bitten by them. A recent case has come from the Tower Enclave area near Wadala Chowk, where a stray dog attacked a young child and injured him badly.
The injured boy has been identified as 6-year-old Sarthik. His father, Devnath Bhatia, said that children can’t be stopped from playing in the streets, but the rising number of stray dogs has made it dangerous. His son was bitten badly by a dog on his arm. The dog tore into the boy’s arm so badly that he has a deep wound more than one inch long.
Child Traumatized After Attack, 50 Dog Bite Cases in One Day
The family said that after the attack, Sarthik was so scared that he stopped talking to anyone. Luckily, he didn’t get more serious injuries. When the family took him to the civil hospital for vaccination, they were shocked to learn that doctors had already treated 50 dog bite cases that same day.
The family and neighbours are now requesting the local authorities to take strict action. Devnath said, “Today it was my son, tomorrow it could be someone else’s child.”
CCTV Shows Shocking Footage, Locals Rush to Help
The residents spoke with Sarpanch Sangeeta Rani, who visited the location and helped get the child treated. She also requested people to stop feeding stray dogs.
The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera nearby. The video shows the child standing in the street when a dog suddenly ran towards him and started biting him. The child tried to escape and reached a nearby gate, but the dog pinned him down and continued attacking. His screams brought people from nearby homes who rushed out and saved him.
