Two Rohingya migrants were detained at Karbook bus stand in Gomati district of Tripura on Friday by Border Security Force while they were planning to cross from Tripura to Bangladesh, officials stated. Both apprehended Rohingya illegal migrants are resident of Rohingya refugee camp situated in Cox’s Bazar Bangladesh.
BSF detained them based on the secretive information regarding their movement in the Karbook area. The detained people are inmates of rohingya refugee camp which is in cox bazar, Bangladesh.
BSF seized 1600 Kilograms of sugar and other contraband items worth over 4 lakhs Rupees. BSF during their different operations foiled different attempts of smuggling along the Indo-Bangla Border.
What Did The BSF Say?
BSF stated “On 1st of November at about 13:45 Hrs on getting information regarding the movement of Rohingyas illegal Migrant in Karbook area, Two of the Rohingya Migrants were detained at Karbook Bus stand by the BSF troops of BOP Bhatibari in Gomati district when they were trying cross from Tripura to Bangladesh.”
Both of them got detained by the BSF based on the secretive information they received of their movement in Karbook area. During the search operation, BSF recovered the Indian currency, United Nations High Commission for Refugees card and Mobile from them.
“BSF has increased the surveillance in the border area to prevent the crime and infiltration, post political crisis in Bangladesh” the release stated.
A large number of Bangladeshi and Rohingya based people were arrested in different parts of Tripura in last few months. Many of them were arrested when trying to board trains or vehicles for other state.
Who Are Rohingyas?
Rohingya Are An Ethno-Religious group, the majority of them are Muslims who have stayed for centuries in Myanmar. Rohingya speak Rohingya or Ruaingga. Due to violence and persecution hundreds of thousands of Rohingyas have fled to their neighbouring countries.
Around 400,00 Rohingya Muslims fled renewed violence in Myanmar. By some accounts they are descendants of Arab, Turkish or Mongol traders and soldiers who migrated to Rakhine state previously called the Kingdom of Arakan in the 15th century.
Historians state they emigrated from Bangladesh in several waves.
