Bengaluru Bus Conductor Stabbed After Asking Passenger Not To Stand On Footboard

Bengaluru: A 45-year-old bus conductor was injured after being stabbed in Bengaluru when he asked a passenger not to stand on the footboard of the bus on Tuesday, October 1. The accused, identified as Harsh Sinha, originally from Jharkhand, was apprehended by fellow passengers and subsequently handed over to the police. The injured conductor, named Yogesh, was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Details of the Incident

Reports indicate that the accused had been employed at a call center in Bengaluru but was discharged from his duties on September 20. A video of the incident shows passengers panicking and exiting the bus, while another visual captures the assailant holding a knife inside the bus. According to police, the incident occurred near the Whitefield police station, involving a bus operated by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

Accused Arrested and Investigation Launched

Following the incident, police arrested the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and initiated a further investigation into the matter. This incident comes on the heels of another violent episode earlier this year, where a 35-year-old cab driver in Bengaluru fatally stabbed his girlfriend multiple times after she rejected his marriage proposal. The driver later confessed to the crime at a police station, leading to his arrest, while the woman succumbed to her injuries at the crime scene.
