Ayodhya: A deeply disturbing incident surfaced from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, involving the alleged kidnapping and rape of a female constable who was en route to her in-laws’ home in Kanpur to celebrate Karva Chauth on October 20. The situation escalated when the assailant took her to a secluded field outside the village late at night and assaulted and raped her.
A Fight for Survival
During the harrowing incident, the constable put up a brave struggle against her attacker, resulting in a broken tooth. As she called for help, the assailant fled the scene, utilizing the cover of darkness to escape. The police were alerted, leading to a swift search that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the filing of a formal complaint.
Background of the Victim
The head constable, originally from the Sen Paschim Para area of Kanpur, was stationed in Ayodhya. She had traveled back to her village on Saturday to participate in the Karva Chauth festivities. While walking home late at night, she was intercepted by a young man before reaching her house.

Details of the Assault
Despite her plain clothes, the constable was forcibly dragged into a deserted field by the attacker. Although she fought back, he managed to tear her clothes and proceeded with the assault. In a courageous attempt to defend herself, she bit the man’s finger, but in the struggle, she ended up breaking one of her own teeth.
Community Response and Police Action
Nearby residents, alerted by her screams, rushed to her aid, causing the assailant to flee. The constable immediately reported the incident to the police, who acted swiftly. Officers arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect, identified as Dharmendra.
Ghatampur ACP Ranjit Kumar confirmed that the woman was attacked after being forcibly taken to an isolated area. The accused has been arrested and is currently in jail, facing serious charges for his actions.
