In a major step towards enhancing development in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with LG Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah convened a high-level meeting at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on Tuesday. The meeting aimed to review the progress of various ongoing development projects across the Union Territory, with an emphasis on accelerating execution and ensuring public welfare.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and senior bureaucrats from key departments including housing, power, roads, education, and health. The discussions centered around removing bottlenecks in project implementation and ensuring timely delivery of essential public services.
Amit Shah highlighted the importance of good governance and transparency, asserting the Centre’s dedication to transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a model of growth and peace. “Development must reach the grassroots level. Every rupee spent must reflect on the ground,” he stated, urging officials to approach their responsibilities with a renewed sense of mission.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed gratitude for the Home Minister’s unwavering support and emphasized that development should be inclusive and participatory. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir are eager to move forward. We need to ensure that their aspirations are met with sincerity, speed, and sensitivity,” Abdullah remarked.
Key sectors such as infrastructure, power supply, drinking water, tourism, and employment generation were thoroughly discussed. Officials provided updates on flagship initiatives including the Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Smart City Projects in Srinagar and Jammu, as well as the establishment of new medical colleges and improved road connectivity in remote areas.

The collaborative efforts of the Centre and local administration aim to not only enhance infrastructure but also to uplift the lives of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.
