Union Home Minister Amit Shah has successfully wrapped up his three-day visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which included a crucial security review meeting held at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar. The meeting saw the participation of key figures, including Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau and top military officials.
During the security review, Amit Shah engaged in discussions about the current security scenario and law and order situation in the Kashmir division. The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials such as the Army Chief, General Officer Commanding (GoC) Northern Command, and various corps commanders, along with the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary and Director General of Police.
Sources revealed that Shah’s agenda included a thorough assessment of security measures in light of the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to commence on July 3. The Home Minister emphasized the need for stringent security protocols and directed agencies to ensure zero infiltration and work towards making Jammu and Kashmir terror-free.
Amit Shah’s visit also marked a significant political shift in the region, as he announced that three more separatist organizations—Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League, and Kashmir Freedom Front—have severed ties with the Hurriyat Conference. He hailed this development as a testament to the growing trust in the Constitution of India among the people of the valley. “This is a prominent demonstration of the people’s trust in the Constitution of India within the valley,” Shah stated on social media. He said that a total of 11 organizations have now distanced themselves from separatism, reinforcing Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a united and powerful India.
This visit marks Amit Shah’s first official trip to Jammu and Kashmir since the formation of the new government led by Omar Abdullah. It comes just ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled inauguration of the first train service between Katra town and Srinagar on April 19.
