What Did Boney Kapoor Say About Jr. NTR That Left Naga Vamsi and Siddharth in Stitches? Find Out!

Clash of Cinematic Ideals: Siddharth and Naga Vamsi Weigh in on Indian Cinema's Future as they respond to Boney Kapoor's statement.

One animated discussion between actor Siddharth and producer Naga Vamsi over the issues surrounding Indian cinema has recently lit up a recent roundtable, part of the Galatta Plus discussions. Even though Siddharth spoke more glowingly on increasing inter-polls on co-productions with North India, at the same time, Naga Vamsi played a tad negatively yet perhaps needed a voice that came for this South Filmmaker.

Siddharth’s Take On Boney Kapoor’s Opinion

When veteran Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor cited the potential of new talent and directors in Hindi cinema, Siddharth chimed in, underscoring the magnitude of Jr NTR’s involvement in Aditya Chopra’s War 2. “You’re talking about the biggest superstar of this industry (South) working with the biggest superstar (Hrithik Roshan) of that industry (North), under the biggest producer in India,” Siddharth remarked, defending the dynamism of Indian cinema today.

Naga Vamsi’s Take

Naga Vamsi who is known to churn out superhits like Jersey and DJ Tillu. He, too, seemed to differ diametrically on this subject. “We always think twice before making risky films with unconventional subjects. Our main criteria are that the theatres need to be filled, and OTT revenue calculations dominate our decisions.

Pragmatic Vamsi was rebuffed by Boney Kapoor, who pointed out the success of unconventional films such as Jathi Ratnalu in Telugu and Stree in Hindi. Kapoor argued that bold storytelling could still reach deep into audiences’ hearts across India.

While Kapoor was quick to counter, saying that such films as Jersey and Lucky Bhaskar are just rare exceptions, Vamsi said, “When you weigh them, money is more important for us.” And this has left everyone debating on how the dynamics of creative risk and commercial viability in Indian cinema have changed over time.

The firecracker exchanges at the roundtable have brought back debates about the delicate balance between art and economics. This is indeed Indian cinema in an era of inter-industry collaboration and competition.
