The wait for one of the most grand and ambitious mythological films in Telugu cinema, Kannappa, is now over as the official countdown for the film has begun. The Vishnu Manchu starrer is all set to release in theatres on June 27. With just 24 hours left, the excitement for the film has reached its peak.
With advance bookings starting on June 25, over 27,000 tickets have been sold through BookMyShow in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone, indicating an overwhelming initial response. In the US, bookings opened late and 486 tickets have been sold so far, grossing $10.3K, but over 200 shows have already been scheduled.
The film is expected to gross Rs 100 crore globally on its opening day, making it one of the biggest mythological Telugu films. According to a report in Filmibeat, the opening day collection in India could cross Rs 30 crore. On Thursday, trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Expecting #Kannappa to be a Pan-India Blockbuster with grand visuals, An epic story coming alive on screen, Multistarrer performances etc.”
Given the film’s popularity, the Andhra Pradesh government has also allowed a hike in ticket prices by Rs 50 just like it did with Kubera recently.
A copy of the order has emerged on the internet. The official statement read, “In the circumstances reported in the reference 3rd cited, the Government after careful examination of the request of Sri M Mohan Babu, Producer of M/s Twenty Four Frames Factory Pvt. Ltd., hereby accord permission to the management of all the Theatres in the State of Andhra Pradesh to enhance the ticket rates upto Rs 50/- + GST for ‘Multiplexes’ and ‘Single Screens’, (limited to higher class tickets), over and above the admission rates mentioned in G.O.Ms.No.13, Home (General-A) Department, dated: 07.03.2022, for a period of Ten (10) days from the date of first release of the film i.e. on 27-06-2025 ‘KANNAPPA’.”

The film will be released on over 5,400 screens worldwide, 4,300 in India and 1,100 overseas. It is touted to be the biggest release ever for a Telugu mythological film.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film narrates the mythological tale of a hunter who becomes a devotee of Lord Shiva. Vishnu Manchu plays the role of Thinnandu/Kannappa in the film, while Akshay Kumar will be seen as Lord Shiva and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati. The film also features veterans like Mohan Babu, Sharat Kumar and Prabhas in a special appearance as Rudra.
Kannappa will release on June 27 in multiple dubbed versions alongside Telugu, including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and English. The cast also includes Kajal Aggarwal, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam and Brahmaji.
