There is a wave of happiness across the globe after the successful return of NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore to Earth. NASA Crew-9 astronauts Sunita Williams, Nick Hague, Butch Wilmore, and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov returned safely from the ISS on Tuesday (local time). Indian actors Chiranjeevi and R Madhavan also shared warm welcome messages on social media.
Chiranjeevi posted on his X account, greeting Williams and Wilmore back to Earth and describing their return as both “historic and heroic.” He emphasized how their originally planned eight-day mission extended to 286 days, during which they completed 4,577 orbits around Earth.

He further delineated their journey as “dramatic, nerve-wracking, and thrilling,” calling it the greatest adventure ever.
R Madhavan also expressed his happiness at Williams’ safe return, and wrote a heartfelt caption on the post, showing his relief at seeing her safe and smiling. He mentioned that their prayers had been answered after more than 260 uncertain days in space, attributing their safe return to “God’s grace and millions of praying souls.”
NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore finally returned to Earth after spending an extended nine months aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Their Crew-9 spacecraft made a safe splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean at around 3:27 AM IST on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, marking the end of their long-awaited journey home.
