Just as Housefull 5 rides high on its box office success, the film has come under fire after dancer and content creator Sandip Brahamin accused the makers of copying his signature “hat move” in the song Laal Pari without giving him any credit.
Sandip posted a reel that recently went viral, where he alleged, “You all have seen my signature moves. My move has been copied in the Housefull 5 song Laal Pari. Many of my friends DMed me after watching the video. I checked again on Instagram and YouTube there’s no mention, no credit. I don’t know what is happening.”
Reacting to the claims, director Tarun Mansukhani told News18 Showsha, “I did read up something about that. To be honest, I hadn’t seen his videos before. I had only gotten to know it after we had launched the song. I came to know that the step that we’ve in the song is the hook step that he’s known for.” He added, “I’m sure somebody must have seen it at some point somewhere and felt that it’s a great step to do and we did it.”

The song has been choreographed by Remo D’Souza, and features Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Sonam Bajwa.
Tarun further stated that had he known about Sandip earlier, he would have invited him to choreograph the step himself, “There was no intention to harm anyone or steal anything. Life isn’t that conniving. If I had known this guy before, I would’ve brought him in to choreograph the song for my actors. Who would be a better choreographer of Laal Pari than the creator himself? It’s as simple as that.”
He clarified, “There was no intention to engage in any kind of plagiarism. It’s just one of those things that ended up happening. We’ve very sorry if he feels like that. I want to reiterate that there was no intention of causing any harm of any form.”
Earlier, the film’s teaser was caught in headlines after being taken down from YouTube due to a copyright claim by Mofusion Studios over the song Laal Pari.
However, despite the controversy, Laal Pari sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Simar Kaur is a viral sensation and Housefull 5 continues to maintain a strong momentum at the box office. The film has already crossed Rs 100 crore in India, and according to the director, it has grossed Rs 178 crore worldwide.
