After a brief pause from the movies following the birth of her daughter Dua, Deepika Padukone is officially back in action. According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, the actress has signed on for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’, starring Prabhas.
According to sources quoted by the entertainment portal, Deepika had earlier declined the offer due to schedule colliding with her pregnancy “Initially, Spirit was to begin by the end of 2024 and hence, Deepika had turned down the offer, as the timelines were not matching due to her pregnancy. However, with a delay in schedule, Vanga went back to Deepika with a revised shooting timeline, and the actress has now agreed to come on board Spirit.”
The report further adds that Deepika was particularly impressed by the depth of her character in the film “It’s the most well-written female part in the world of Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Deepika was surprised with the nuances in not just the script, but also her character. She has loved the part, and is excited to team up with Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the first time,” the source added.

This project will mark Deepika and Prabhas’ reunion after ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. The project is reportedly in its final scripting stage and is scheduled to begin filming in October 2025. The production was earlier scheduled to start in January but was postponed due to Prabhas’ injury during the shoot of “Fauji”.
According to Pinkvilla reports ‘Spirit’ is expected to hit theaters in first half of 2027.
Earlier Pinkvilla reported that Deepika Padukone has also has been confirmed for a key role in “King” starring Shah Rukh Khan and the film is reportedly to hit the big screen in between October and December 2026.
