The magical world of Harry Potter is returning to screens, this time as a highly-anticipated HBO TV series and fans are already enchanted by the first glimpse of Dominic McLaughlin. The show is based on J.K. Rowling’s books and will follow Harry as he begins his journey at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Earlier, HBO had revealed the main cast with Arabella Stanston playing Hermione and Alastair Stiut as Ron, joining McLaughlin in the lead roles.
In the new photo shared on Monday, McLaughlin is seen wearing the Hogwarts uniform with a Gryffindor stitched on it, along with the famous round glasses. He’s also holding a clapperboard, showing that filming has started.
“First-years, step forward. The HBO Original Harry Potter series is now in production,” the caption read.

About Harry Potter TV series
The show will feature John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Papa Esidou and Nick Frost. Apart from this, new names like Rory Willmott, Amos Kitson, Louise Brealey and Anton Lesser have also been added recently.
According to the media reports, all of J.K. Rowling’s seven books will be adapted into different seasons. The filming for the first season is underway, and the cast is expected to wrap up the production by the end of Spring 2026.
J.K. Rowling, who is attached to the project as an executive producer, said that she has read the first two episodes of the series and found them to be amazing. Taking to her social media, the writer penned, “I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO ‘Harry Potter’ series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!”
This new Harry Potter series will be released in 2027, streaming exclusively on Max (formerly HBO Max).
