A massive fire broke out on the sets of Anupamaa on June 23 at around 5 am. According to reports, the fire destroyed the set only two hours before the filming was supposed to begin. All Indian Cine Workers Association slammed the makers of Anupamaa after the fire broke out and also demanded an investigation.
AICWA shared the video from the set and wrote, “This incident is yet another tragic reminder of the recurring fire outbreaks in Mumbai and its surrounding film studios. Time and again, fires have engulfed sets due to the blatant negligence of producers, production houses, and television channels, who consistently fail to implement even the most basic fire safety measures. This apathy places the lives of thousands of workers at risk every single day. While the Anupamaa set was destroyed, it is alarming that several adjoining sets narrowly escaped the flames. This could have led to an even greater disaster.”

Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, President of the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), also asked Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis to order a high-level judicial inquiry into this fire incident.
While speaking to Times Now, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta expressed his anger towards the makers of Anupamaa for this mishap. He said, “Mera majdoor bajuwale set par tha. Bahut majdoor hai mere film city mein. Unka mujhe subah 5 baje call aaya and bataya ki Anupamaa ke set par aag lagi hai. Waha 7 baje shooting ki shuruwat hone wali thi. Floor par sab majdoor taiyaari kar rahe the. Aag lagne ke baad saare majdoor bahar bhaage. Yeh aag abhi tak jal rahi hai. Fire brigade ek ghante baad pahuchi hai. Film city wale kisiko bhi set par jaane nahi de rahe taki baat bahar na aaya. Yaha har baar aag lagti hai kyunki lakdi ke set hote hai.”

“Yeh saare producers, channel, Film City ka managing director aur Mumbai ke labour commissioner sabki mili bhagat hai. Yeh log kabhi set par check nahi karte. Fire safety ka checking nahi hota. Abhi baarish ke mausam mein yeh aag lagi hai. Yeh time par lagna nahi chahiye tha. Fire safety kahi par tha nahi,” he added.
As of now, no casualties and injuries have been reported but several people from the crew were present on the site.
