In 2024, producers Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta came together to announce Border 2, the biggest war film in Indian cinema. A sequel to the 1997 cult classic Border, the film features a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, directed by Anurag Singh
The film went on floors in November 2024 and now, Pinkvilla exclusively reports that Diljit Dosanjh will begin filming for Border 2 from June 10, 2025.
According to an exclusive Pinkvilla report, Diljit Dosanjh is set to begin filming his portions from June 10. The entertainment portal quoted a source saying, “Diljit Dosanjh plays a very interesting part in Border, bringing in the heart to the tale of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. He begins his journey on Border 2 from June 10, and will be shooting for the sequences with Sunny Deol in the first leg.”
The insider further revealed that Diljit shares powerful scenes with all three lead actors Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty and that his character comes with a compelling backstory, “Diljit has powerful moments with Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan, as also Ahan Shetty. There’s also a strong backstory to his role,” the source adds.
The source concluded “Anurag Singh is looking to call it a wrap on Border 2 by August 10. While Sunny Deol is looking to finish shooting for large-chunk of his role in June end, Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan will wrap up their part in the month of August 2025.”

The makers are eyeing a Republic Day 2026 release.
Meanwhile on the work front, Diljit is wrapping up shoot for Sardaarji 3 and Varun Dhawan is collaborating with Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur for a romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Directed by David Dhawan, it also stars Maniesh Paul, Rajeev Khandelwal, Mouni Roy, Kubbra Sait, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, and Rohit Saraf. It is slated for a theatrical release in October 2025.
Whereas, Sunny Deol returned to the big screens with ‘Jaat’ and this was his first release after the success of Gadar 2.
