Jennifer Lawrence made a dazzling return at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, marking her first public appearance since giving birth to her second child with husband Cooke Maroney in March. The Oscar winning actress stars in the psychological drama Die, My Love, alongside Robert Pattinson, directed by Lynne Ramsay, also known for We Need to Talk About Kevin and produced by Lawrence under her company Excellent Cadaver.
In Die, My Love, Lawrence plays Grace, a new mother battling postpartum depression and a failing relationship with her husband Jackson, played by Pattinson. The film was adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s novel of the same name which dives into mental health, emotional detachment, and the hidden chaos behind domestic life.
At its world premiere at 78th Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, the film received an overwhelming response and according to Deadline, the screening ended with a 9 minute standing ovation, while Variety reports a 6 minute ovation.
