Students who appeared for the CBSE class 10th and 12th board exams are eagerly waiting for their results. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has brought an update related to students. In a significant overhaul of its post-result grievance redressal process, CBSE has modified the procedure students must follow to address issues with their Class 10th and Class 12th results. Under the revised guidelines, students must now first request photocopies of their evaluated answer sheets before applying for mark verification or re-evaluation.
This move from the board aims transparency. The purpose of CBSE’s initial student answer book access program is for students to gain clear insight into marking activities to detect errors before standard verification processes begin.
For a new grievance procedure, CBSE now requires students to start by obtaining a photocopy of the evaluated answer books. In the past, CBSE operated a linear grievance process that demanded students to complete step one to proceed to step two, which led to step three in the following order:
The grievance redressal process includes three stages:
- Mark verification
- Receiving a photocopy of the answer book evaluation
- Re-evaluation.
Students could advance to subsequent levels only when completing each current task according to this system. A photocopy of the evaluated answer books will now come as step one, while step two includes verification of marks and re-evaluation starting from the 2025 board examination results. After reviewing answers and marks, students will evaluate the mark sheet for any rating or summing errors before making the next move. Students will achieve better clarity through this decision because it allows them to see evaluator comments along with the evaluation process and identify unmarked responses according to the CBSE.
Students now have the opportunity to conduct mark verification first to check for totaling mistakes, but can select full answer re-evaluation when necessary.
The new system from the Board provides students with the possibility to file for verification of marks, together with re-evaluation or individual requests based on their post-photo copy assessment.
Students need to follow these procedures in order to request mark verifications or answer re-evaluations and local officials will announce complete implementation details afterward. The board will provide detailed procedures following the result declaration.
The CBSE has announced that detailed guidelines regarding timelines, fees, and the step-by-step procedure for obtaining photocopies of answer sheets, mark verification, and re-evaluation will be released after the declaration of the Class X and XII results for 2025. These results are anticipated to be announced between May 7 and May 12, 2025.
