Maharashtra: 53-Year-Old Woman Jumps Into Sea At Bandra Bandstand, Swift Action By Mumbai Cop Saves Her

According to the Mumbai Police, the woman was rescued by on-duty Police Constable Sainath Devde who immediately dived into the water after witnessing the incident.

Mumbai: A 53-year-old woman was saved from drowning in the Arabian Sea by a Mumbai police constable’s alertness and timely action. The incident took place on Wednesday near Bandra Bandstand. Reportedly, the woman with a “mental illness” had jumped into the sea at Bandstand as she feared that someone was chasing her.

According to the Mumbai Police, the woman was rescued by on-duty Police Constable Sainath Devde who immediately dived into the water after witnessing the incident. The woman was semi-conscious when she was pulled out and was admitted toBhabha Hospital for treatment.

Her condition is currently stable and her family has been informed, wrote Mumbai Police on X.

The official further added that they are ensuring that the woman receives psychiatric treatment so that she doesn’t repeat such actions in the future. Meanwhile, the efforts of constable Devde has been appreciated by senior officers of the Mumbai Police.

Informing about the incident, Mumbai Police wrote on X, “A 53-year-old woman with a mental illness jumped into the sea at Bandstand, Bandra, reportedly fearing that someone was chasing her. Upon witnessing the incident, on-duty Police Constable Sainath Devde immediately dived into the water and rescued her. She was semi-conscious when pulled out and was promptly admitted to Bhabha Hospital for treatment. Her condition is currently stable, and her family has been informed.”
