New Delhi: With an aim to curb crimes in the state, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vijay Kumar has circulated a notice that advised its officials to use Hindu Calender, which is Panchang.

As per the advisory, the calender will help police personnel to ascertain the time when any mishappening is likely to happnen so that they can increase the vigil as per the requirements.

Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) Vijay Kumar issued the directives in order to decrease the crime rate. He said that an analysis of records showed that crimes shot up at night one week prior and later of the news moon that is ‘Amavasaya’.

Kumar has distributed copies of the “Panchang” to police stations, outlining the new moon dates in September and October of this year.

DGP Kumar also instructed police officers to maintain heightened awareness during the specified days, which include the week prior to and after the new moon, and to intensify patrolling efforts.

The circular mandates the deployment of extra police personnel for patrolling during this period. Furthermore, the circular outlines the responsibility of officials to identify areas with high crime rates and create a record of criminal incidents during this timeframe. This information will be used to formulate a strategy to address these issues.

Kumar has also directed local law enforcement to establish the route plan for Police Response Vehicles (PRV) based on crime incident analysis. Additionally, the circular calls for heightened alertness in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) and Dial 112 systems.
