More gruesome details are emerging about the prime accused, Manojit Mishra, in the Kolkata law college student rape case, with allegations suggesting he is a repeat offender. Many reports say that Monojit Mishra, also known as Mango, often showed a strong interest in disturbing sexual behaviour and violence. Some of his college juniors and classmates have said he acted in a way that seemed mentally unstable and dangerous. BJP leader Amit Malviya has taken to X detailing Manoj and his relation with the Trinamool Congress.
‘Tui Amay Biye Korbi?’- Will You Marry Me?
According to a report by The Times of India, Mango often began conversations with girls and women he approached by saying, “Tui amay biye korbi?”- which means “Will you marry me?” The report also states that Mishra was expelled from the college’s Trinamool unit in 2021 for asking the same question to several other girls on campus.
“This person and his aides were a terror, especially for girls. Authorities knew everything but protected him. We even filed a formal sexual harassment complaint to the teacher-in-charge, but nothing happened,” a third-year college student told the Times of India.
“Those attached to the union had a licence to do anything. Posting obscene jokes and photos in groups was normal. We stayed silent out of fear,” a junior told TOI.
Manojit Mishra And His Relationship With TMC
Monojit is a former student of the institute and has been the ex-President of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) at the South Calcutta Law College. According to his Facebook profile, he currently serves as the General Secretary of TMCP in the South Kolkata district. Though some of the TMC leaders have disowned him, he can be seen with many of the TMC leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee, who is also a nephew of the party supremo, Mamata Banerjee. He can also be seen with Mamata’s sister-in-law Kajari Banerjee in a party program. Kajari is the councillor of Ward No. 73 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
His social media profiles show him attending various events with TMC leaders and even participating as a speaker at several programmes.
Amit Malviya On Mango
“We couldn’t predict the future”—really?
TMC’s excuse for being seen with Manojit Mishra is not just laughable—it’s criminal.
Let’s be clear: Manojit wasn’t some unknown face.
He has been an attempted murder accused since 2013.
There were multiple molestation complaints against him at Gariahat and Kasba police stations.
Yet no action was ever taken. Why?
Because he was politically shielded.
This serial offender was notorious for:
Harassing girls
Making unsolicited marriage proposals
Threatening those who resisted
And yet in 2023, he was given a role in a government college—a perfect hunting ground for him to prey on young women.
Reports reveal that he filmed private moments with girls and shared them—clear evidence of digital sexual abuse.
