CPI leader Chandu Rathod was allegedly shot dead in Hyderabad during a morning walk on Tuesday. He was killed by unidentified assailants at Shalivahana Nagar Park in Malakpet. The incident occurred around 7:30 am while the leader was walking in the park, according to South East Zone DCP S. Chaitanya Kumar.
What Happened?
According to Malakpet police, three to four assailants arrived in a swift car and reportedly threw chilli powder into Rathod’s face. As he attempted to flee, they fired multiple rounds at him. This led to his instant death. The assailants fled the scene in the same vehicle.
Family members disclosed that Rathod was embroiled in a dispute with a CPI-ML leader from Devarpula. His body was taken to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have filed a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. A probe was launched, and Investigators are reviewing CCTV camera footage from the area.
Who Was Chandu Rathod?
Chandu Naik is a native of Achampet in Nagarkurnool district. He Is Originally from Narsaipalli in Balmuru mandal of Nagarkurnool district. Rathod had been living with his family in Chaitanyapuri.He was a known face in left-wing political circles and had long been associated with the Communist Party of India (CPI). There are also unverified reports that the victim was involved in the real estate business. The police are looking into the possibility of a property dispute behind the killing.
His wife has alleged that Chandu had a longstanding enmity with one Rajesh, a member of the CPI (ML) and a resident of Devaruppala, suggesting a possible internal factional angle behind the killing.
