Hyderabad: The Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam highway part of the Khammam-Devarapalli four-lane greenfield road, which covers 89 km, is going to be ready by 2024 as it is under construction currently. Rs 2,200 crore has been invested in the project by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which was started in September 2022.

Currently, 95% of the 1,332 acres needed for the project have been purchased. The four-lane road in Khammam district has been divided into three packages, with Delhi-based HG Infra handling two of them and KMV of AP handling the third.

The project is projected to be completed by 2024, according to NHAI project officer V Durga Prasad. When completed, the new route will shorten the distance between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad by 56 km.

Currently, 8 kilometres of BT road have been laid, and farmers have received Rs 200 crore in compensation for land acquisition. The outstanding balance is Rs 10 crore.
