The social welfare team was surprised to see the scene inside the Anand Niketan Old Age Ashram in Sector 55, Noida. The elderly woman was kept with her hands and feet tied in the old age ashram. The Lucknow team has taken action on this. When the social welfare team reached the spot again on Friday, the officials were surprised to see the scene. This old age home was being run without permission. As many as 39 elderly people have been shifted from the spot.
A notice has been sent to the director of the old age home and an answer has been sought from the social welfare. The director has been reprimanded due to the chaos in the ashram. The way the woman has been found in a tied position with her hands and feet tied, it can be inferred that other elderly people were also tortured here.
No Action Has Been Taken
Former journalist Yash Jain has complained several times about the condition of the old age ashram. The management did not take any cognizance of the complaint. Nor was any action taken. Had cognizance been taken of the complaint earlier, the video of the elderly woman in a tied state on her hand would not have gone viral.
The Social Welfare Department has warned the director that if all the arrangements inside the old age home are not repaired within a month, it will be sealed. Three elderly people have been rescued from the spot and shifted to Dadri.
The documents of the old age home are being examined by the Social Welfare Department. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that the elderly were being tortured here. The State Women’s Commission team took cognizance of the matter after a video of an elderly woman tying her hands and feet in the old age home went viral.
The team reached Noida directly from Lucknow and rescued the woman. During the investigation, it has been found that the staff present there had also threatened to leave the job several times, but those people were suppressed.
Accused of Drug Abuse
When the State Women’s Commission team reached the spot and investigated, it was found that the elderly were treated inhumanely here. They were drugged and held hostage. They were not even given clothes to wear. They were made to sleep on the floor without a bed. In this case, the officials of the concerned department have instructed to take strict action.
