Greater Noida: While significant strides have been made in promoting sanitation and hygiene across the nation, a government school in Dadri town of Greater Noida, just 40 kilometers away from the capital city Delhi, is shedding light on a critical issue.

This school’s situation contradicts the progress, as it operates without essential facilities. Amidst a backdrop where 11 crore toilets were constructed as part of a nationwide mission, this school’s challenges remain stark.

The school in question is located in Gadhi village, falling under Dadri tehsil. Here, a single room accommodates five different classes with a total of 55 students and four teachers. Remarkably, the school lacks a toilet facility, posing a significant hurdle for the students and staff.

In instances when nature calls, students are compelled to utilize toilets in nearby residences.

Operating within the constraints of a solitary room, the school’s organization is far from ideal. The room is partitioned to host the various classes. Students facing one direction are engaged in one class, while those sitting in the opposite direction constitute another.

With limited resources, the school’s principal manages from within this room. The situation is exacerbated by the absence of a boundary wall and playground.

Notably, the building housing this school was constructed in October 2020 after the previous structure deteriorated. However, the urgent need for toilets has remained unaddressed for the past three years.

Despite appeals to officials and local representatives, no progress has been made on this front. Consequently, both educators and students are left feeling embarrassed and helpless.

Demonstrating their community spirit, villagers have extended their generosity by allowing the school’s occupants to use their own toilets.
